  • MAXROD narrative, via TJS, unclear which night this occurred, "my favorite Jerry pedal steel story was from the show I saw him at the 46th St. Theatre in Brooklyn, it was an old movie theater not unlike the Fillmore East with a main orchestra section, with two side aisles and two side sections. Jerry's pedal steel was set up stage left in front of the aisle, he came out with the Riders and started to tune up and such when folks one by one came down the aisle and put some rolled herbage at the foot of the pedal steel a few even got to hand them to Jerry directly when they got his attention, after about 15 folks, Jerry came out to front of the pedal steel picked up each gift and lined them up in the neck area of his pedal steel, the show started soon thereafter and Jerry took one J after another and consumed them during the Rider set, he must have went through 8 or 10 of them during the hour plus set, it was quite a scene."
