  • Robert Hunter was in Los Angeles taking classes with Scientology. Geoff Levin was a young folk player from San Jose. He later formed the rock band People! with his brother Robbie.
  • This is the only Garcia bluegrass performance to date that has almost the entire three recorded sets still existing. The tapes comes from two different sources.
  • Sets 2 and 3 often circulate as March 7, 1964
  • There are recordings of "Sweet Georgia Brown" and "Betty and Dupree" from Jorma's sets this night which circulate and have long been misidentified as performed by Pigpen.
  • Jorma Kaukonen was the opening act and performed with his brother Peter playing harmonica on several tunes.
