JGMS - Keystone Korner January 1972 #1

Notes
  • listings: San Francisco Chronicle, January 5, 1972, p. 43; San Francisco Examiner, January 6, 1972, p. 29; see JGMF
  • personnel: Bill Vitt gigged with Yogi Phlegm on January 7-8 at the Longbranch in Berkeley, per Corry. We presume Kreutzmann played all three nights of this run.
  • Early '72 JGMS band membership remains quite blurry from night-to-night, not least because there is so little tape. We know that Fogerty is absent from the circulating shows in January-February, and that he seems to have been billed when he was going to be playing (though we can't really check that). Kreutzmann seems is drumming in January-February, while it seems that Vill Vitt might have been working more with Yogi Phlegm. Conguero Armando Peraza joins in from at least February 11 through around March 18, as far as existing information illuminates. We will default to the Garcia-Saunders-Kahn-Vitt (GSKV) as the base formation in this period, and list Kreutzman (for Vitt), Fogerty and/or Peraza when they were billed or otherwise known to be present.
