Notes
Sue: 4,380 tickets (room capacity actually 5k), tix $10 adv and $12 DOS, GP $50,000. Band guarantee of $10,000 plus $4,000 production plus 85% of total gross receipts after estimated $30,101.25 expenses, plus some other provision. Glen Jewett of Old Goat productions notified Rock of cancellation by phone on 5/16. Rock confirmed by telex on 5/19, noting that no deposit had been paid and the contract had never been fully executed, and asking the promoter to "please fulfill your obligation to inform the public of cancellation." We don't know why the gig was canceled, but our best surmise is low ticket sales for a room that was just way too big for the Garcia Band in that location. Jerry Band hadn't played Kansas City since 1976, and possibly for good reason. Note that the Rainbow in Denver was about 1/3 the size of this arena, and didn't even sell out on Saturday night. In short, it seems like the promoter's reach exceeded his grasp. Of course, it could have been something else entirely. :)
Note that the poster lists Garcia, Kahn, Seals, Dickerson, LaBranch, and "Greg Zerico"
