review: [negative] Papadopoulos 1977: Garcia "is a fat old hippie and childish in his ways." During TWLWMYD, he "appeared on the verge of cardiac arrest." This review begat a whole bunch of outraged responses in the Spectrum letters to the editor section, e.g., on December 14, 1977. The great David Davis discusses this at GratefulSeconds: The Jerry Garcia Fans Strike Back: Buffalo, November 30, 1977.
review: [mixed] Anderson 19771201. He loved the music: "Garcia limbered up quickly … and played dazzling guitar long into the night". But he didn't love some other aspects: "Band was late getting into town, allegedly, so "the price of admission included a wait in the cold rain". Tuned too long. "Their first 90-minute set came in 10 minutes short. The half-hour intermission lasted nearly an hour."
