  • Betty's cassette was labeled 8/11/77, but the event happened on the 12th.
  • Handbill: "Celebration - Jerry Garcia & Band | Wilderness - Greenpeace - Save the Whales Voyage 1977". Noon show time, $5 donation, tickets "on sale at the gate Friday morning at the foot of Bay Street and Embarcadero, Pier 31". Also 9 pm film "Save the Whales". Roscoe preview says show will take place on the bow of the James Bay, but I think it ended up on the pier?
  • Herb Caen (19770817) notes that benefit generated $5k for the operation, and Garcia chipped in another $3k of his own money, and the James Bay made a total of $12k for fuel on its stay in the City (Paul Kantner also chipped in $2k).
