As per nytimes The Pop Life column "The Grateful Dead Concert scheduled for tonight Roosevelt Stadium in Jersey City has been postponed to Aug. 4, the result of community reaction to the fatal stabbing of a teen‐ager outside the stadium during the concert there by Yes on June 17. At first, there was talk of canceling all future concerts at the stadium. Then the city insisted is canceling the Dead concert. The reason given was a lack of available police personnel this weekend, because of the Bicentennial, but the city also resisted the notion of the Aug. 4 rescheduling.
John Scher, the promoter, finally obtained a Superior Court order forcing the city to agree to the later date, and yesterday Arthur Delo, press secretary to Mayor Paul Jordan, said the city would comply. Both sides agree, however, that this is the last summer for rock concerts Roosevelt Stadium."
