Notes
  • Jerry and Merl's first east coast gig, the day after putting Garcia-Saunders-Kahn-Vitt Live at Keystone in the can. Flaxman reports that Montana country-rock group Mission Mountain Wood Band would be opening and asked him to serve as 'quippie, in front of Elephant's Memory, Bo Diddley and JGMS. Parish calls it "one of the wildest shows I've ever experienced. There was endless bad judgment on display that night" (Parish 2003, 103). They stayed at the Navarro.
  • Additional color from Audio Engineer Jeffrey Kawałek "I was the audio assistant for this show, on board the boat with the bands, a full film crew (shooting footage for Leon Gast’s documentary on the Hell’s Angels), and about 250 Hell’s Angels, who were celebrating a 'Free Sonny Barger' party. One of the Angels got married on board, with Bo Diddley officiating. It was supposed to be a free concert under the George Washington Bridge, but because the generator was under-rated, there was not enough power to run the film lighting and the PA, and the idea of a free concert was eventually scrapped, with the celebration and performances confined to the top deck of the boat. What a zoo!!"
