  • JGMF: Welcome Home, Vassar: OAITW at the Keystone, 7/21/73
  • Also in attendance was Billy Odum comments via facebook "During one of the Old & In The Way set breaks, Jerry came out to the bar where we were and had the bartender set up a few glasses and slowly filled them up with water, tuning them up as he went and then played a little tune for us. One of my buddies offered to buy Jerry a beer, he flashed that great Jerry smile, chuckled and said, 'Thanks man, but I get mine for free'."
  • Attendee Bob Schwartz recalls via facebook "I knew Vassar and after the first set the boys had to walk through the crowd to get to the break room. I said Hi to Vassar and he grabbed me and took me with him to the break room. He was so happy to see a familiar face. Got to meet Jerry and spend some time with him and Vassar. Asked if they would dedicate a song to the boy from Florida. Rowen did the dedication to us and they ripped into Orange Blossom Special. And if that wasn’t enough magic for one night Bob Weir was playing pool in the back and he asked me if I wanted to play. Nothing like shooting pool with Bob while listening to OAITW."
  • Keystone calendar bills "Bluegrass", then band name, band members and instruments, including "guest fiddler" Vassar Clements. BB pretty much the same, but says "special guest fiddler from Nashville". HDR listing day of first show bills merely "surprise".
