    Notes
  • Several sources from 7/11 are often mislabeled as 7/12 and vice versa. This may have stemmed from the fact that the shows after midnight. Based on eye witness accounts we know that Pigpen didn’t sing at all on the last night of the 4-night run (he developed laryngitis).
  • As per deadlists entry for this show "David Nelson, mandolin, on Rosa Lee McFall & Tell It To Me [sic]."
  • Ed Perlstein recollection (Facebook, 7/11/2012): "Dead at Midnight - Fillmore East - July 11, 1970. According to my notes (my memory sucks), the show started at 12:20 AM and ended at 5:30 AM. I remember walking out of the Fillmore East to the rising sun."
  • Shows started at midnight, and by some accounts ran until dawn.
  • Please see LIA's 1970 Show List for an explanation of these setlists. We only have a piecemeal audience tape record, and even that suffers badly from mislabels.
  • Deadsources: July 9-12, 1970: Fillmore East, contains a review from Tom Zito but it's hard to tell which night(s) its from.
