  • We used to think this might be a misdated Matrix Tape (of which there are many). But I think we have converged to his being in the afternoon, and the absolutely legendary "Celestial Synapse" GD show. that night at the Fillmore West. Abram's tapes label it a "Blue Grass Jam", and that sounds like good clean afternoon fun. There's a little kiddo in the audience, too, not that that means all that much.
  • Thanks to Bluegrass Hall of Famer Neil V. Rosenberg for his help in identifying the first tune, a rough-and-ready version of Big Mon's "Liberty".
  • lostlivedead: The Matrix, San Francisco February 1969 High Country with Jerry Garcia and David Nelson. Corry speculates that "Since Jerry Garcia was booked for February 24 and 26 (with Phil Lesh and Bill Kreutzmann in "Mickey Hart and The Hartbeats") [we should] presume now that High Country was playing an opening set for one of these gigs." But it's not clear to us why we should assume that.
