Notes
9 PM to 9 AM. "Includes Breakfast"; The list from 05-03-69 often appears on tapes with this date. Our list comes from Deadbase, and is assumed to be partial. One expost account says Jerry busted out his acoustic guitar for one number (presumably "Mountains of the Moon") and notes that Pigpen was absent. See Rod Courtney, "The Plastic Hippie," Stanislaus Signal, January 10, 1969, p. 3.
According to David Lemieux, the reels for 12/31/68 were erased to record Jan. 1969 Avalon shows, but this Midnight Hour survives, and it features an all-star jam with all the musicians that played that night. The sound, however, is very poor due to distortion, see Tapers Section December 25 - December 31, 2006.
This was the first ever live concert recorded to 2-inch 16-track tape.
