review: [negative] Smith 1993: "Garcia, who collapsed last year from exhaustion and a generally unhealthy lifestyle, has been on a much-publicized health kick. But maybe he needs still-better vitamins. Although there were some nice moments, last night's show needed a lot more energy, particularly during the lethargic first set. Too often, Garcia & Co. seemed stuck in second gear, with the stolid rhythm section just plodding along, and Garcia's guitar work wasn't quite enough to rev things up. When the band finally did manage to find some fire, at the end of each set, it was time for it to go."
