Notes
  • The police made 29 arrests in connection with this show, all outside the show, for drugs: 10 for nitrous, 16 for LSD, cocaine, crack, etc., and 3 for Ecstasy. These arrests prompted Garcia to tell Rolling Stone (Goodman 1989) that he'd never play Nassau again, for fear of exposing his fans to these hassles. By March 1990, the promise of three sold-out GD gigs produced a backtrack, with Dennis basically telling the press that Jerry hadn't known what he as talking about (Young 1990).
  • review: [positive] Gehr 1989; "Garcia simply looked like he was having a blast, spry and beaming"
  • review: [positive] Lloyd 1989; we won't criticize the writer too much, who was clearly a college kid developing his music journo chops, and since he didn't know JG at all, took the scene color approach, which far more seasoned journalists, from whom one might expect better, took over the years. It's actually kind of endearing.
