Notes
  • A 10 pm start for this seems exceptionally unlikely.
  • Sue: 2,000 capacity @ $10.50, GP $21,000. Guarantee of $9,000 plus 85% gross receipts over $20,220 plus 100% of the difference between estimated and actual expenses. Originally planned (as in JG signed contract) for one show.
  • "The Jerry Garcia Band featuring The Grateful Dead's Jerry Garcia" - so weird they use the GD, again, as with two earlier SB shows. LAT listing and ad only show first show. Second show announced in a ribbon in the SB paper - "by popular demand". Billings are interesting: John Kahn ("Formerly with Mike Bloomfield Band"), Melvin Seals ("Formerly with Elvin Bishop Band"), Greg Errico ("Formerly w/ Santana"), DeeDee Dickerson & Jachalyn [sic] LaBranch. recollex: was to be one show and the day before they added a late show. The early show was only one set, so no one would leave, kind of a peaceful protest scene. That lasted for an hour or so. The Arlington agreed if we all went to the lobby/courtyard, after they let the folks in for the second show, they would open the doors until the place was full. Well, only 30 or so folks had bought tickets for the second show. What a fun night that was.” [10] recollex2: "I was at the 3/11/83 Jerry Garcia Band show. As I remember the second show was added because the box office was robbed just days before the concert so there was no money to pay the band. The rumor was Jerry agreed to add a second show to help recoup the losses. Awfully nice of him. Place was less than 20% full for the second show and that included people from the first show who stayed.” [14] Both recollex via slip. Ad in the 2/24/83 Daily Nexus Arts Supplement gives Greg Enrico [sic].
