  • Sue: contract 10/19/75. One show beginning at 8 pm consisting of two approx 90 minute sets. The wage was typed in wrote and initialed change to $6k guarantee plus 60% of total gross receipts over $20,000. Employer shall also pay light and sound fee [JGMF: designate as $1,500, standard for this tour]. Guarantee plus percentage in cash or cashier's check immediately following engagement. no date on deposit, so using contract date.   • Review: [mixed] Lioce 1975: Garcia “a bit limited”, “lacking the lyrical imagination of a Jeff Beck on the one hand and the raw gutsy strength of a Keith Richards on the other” … “competent” “even rather effective at times” “he wasn’t anything all that special”. Hopkins: “Nicky Hopkins, though, was tremendous. … His playing was (unlike Garcia’s) totally unpredictable, yet at the same time it was beautifully controlled, as solid as it was soaring.” Says that Hopkins did a better job of backing Jerry during JG’s features than the reverse. “ “In terms of vocal work, the concert was pretty bad.” Tutt on harmonies, Garcia thin voice.
