    Notes
  • Sue: Band got $4,000 guarantee plus 60% of gross over $11,000 plus $1,250 for lights and sound.
  • The show's start time is a bit confusing. The ticket stub posted here says 5 p.m. Listings in the Wisconsin State Journal (e.g., 4/18/75, section 6, p. 3) say 8 p.m., while one in The Capital Times (4/19/75, p. 2) says 8:30. A show review (Chandler 1975) says that the show lasted three and a half hours and ended after midnight. I have accordingly sort of split the difference and set the start time to 8:15. 5 p.m. certainly seems incorrect, the ticket stub notwithstanding. Perhaps there were early and late shows? A listing in the Capital Times on 3/26/75, p. 44, lists "Jerry Garcia & Merl Saunders, 5 & 8:30 p.m.". On 3/4/012, attendee Andy Stone confirmed that there was a single show, started ca. 8 or 8:15. AFM contract says one show, "with a possible second show option".
  • Cinematreasures gave capacity as 1100, but box office records indicate 2178.

  • review: [positive] Chandler 1975: compares Fierro to Illinois Jacquet, Pharoah Sanders and Archie Shepp; he "colored everything blue. Saunders jumped on organ from the jazz of Jimmy Smith, to the funk of Charles Garland, to the electronic soul of Billy Preston ..."
