    Notes
  • Circulating tapes include a Clementime Jam and a Dark Star Jam after the setlist we supply, but LIA speculates, and Nick agrees, that they are from another night, possibly the night before (dangling on the end of re-used tape). After that Clementine fragment, per Nickm "they tune up and Garcia again deflects the applause. 'That's not necessary ... we're primarily just screwing around. And, uh, so don't expect anything that isn't screwing around. 'Cuz everything we're doing is just screwing around unless otherwise stated in advance. Some more lengthy tuning and dead air. 'Ok, let's play!' Lesh hints Dark Star and cheekily suggests, 'a little bossa nova?'"

  • Budley Nelson, on dead.net The Matrix - October 30, 1968: "This was a very intimate show, with everyone just "goofin'" like Jerry said. I was the clean-up guy during and after the show, and Elvin Bishop was so drunk, the boss asked me to give him a ride home. He lived somewhere up on Sacramento or California St. and we just kept driving around the block, until he spotted his place ... he was semi-comatoast [sic]."
