  • Free afternoon concert. Garcia: "I'd just gotten a brand-new set of JBL speakers - they weren't guitar models, they were the hi·fi version - and I plugged them in. ... It was an outdoor show, a loose, weird affair - Timothy Leary was there. The first note I hit, I blew out every speaker -I sounded like somebody playing into a telephone from a half-mile away. That was very memorable" (Brown 1991, 1H)
